JDr. Anurag Kumar, a distinguished figure in Electrical Communication Engineering, served as the Director of the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bangalore from 2014 to 2020. With a BTech degree from IIT Kanpur and a PhD from Cornell University, he joined IISc in 1988. His extensive career includes a significant tenure at AT&T Bell Labs, where he delved into computer systems and communication networks.
Dr. Kumar's contributions extend from pioneering research in communication networks and cyber-physical systems to impactful roles as the Coordinator of the nationwide Education and Research Network (ERNET) Project. Recognized with awards like the IISc Alumni Award for Excellence in Engineering Research and the CDAC-ACCS Foundation Award, he is a Fellow of prestigious institutions, including the Indian National Academy of Engineering and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
Currently, as an Honorary Professor at IISc, Dr. Kumar continues his academic pursuits, consultancy, and active involvement in national committees. His legacy at IISc and his ongoing contributions underscore his expertise and dedication to advancing the field of Electrical Communication Engineering.
